Tupac Shakur
Arguably one of the best rappers of all time, the California based rapper sadly passed away at a young age of 25 after being gunned down in a drive-by shooting. The incident happened on September 7, 1996, in Las Vegas after attending a boxing match between Mike Tyson and Bruce Seldon at the MGM Grand Hotel.
Though he was known for his hardcore gangster rap style, 2pac never shied away from addressing political as well as societal issues prevalent within the African-American community in his songs. From Changes, to Brenda’s Got a Baby, to Keep Ya Head Up, to Baby Don’t Cry, just to mention a few, 2pac rapped candidly about racial discrimination, domestic abuse, poverty, rape and women empowerment.
