That fifth photo is not Accra at night - that is Cape Town!
Lmfaoooo did you just say the famous Kwame Nkrumah circle is Cape Town? ?????Maybe there might be a resemblance to Cape Town but Google Nkrumah circle and you'll know what it looks like.
grotesque cathedrals in windhoek? As far as I know there is a rather 'normal' church built on a hill by the german colonialist. This church though is built in a neo-gothic style... but grotesque? And churche(s)?
I too thought it was a very poor choice of words and reading the article, seems out of keeping with the sentiment entirely. I believe it was an attempt to make mention of the gothic style, perhaps?
I have yet to read a phrase as entirely inapt as "grotesque cathedrals".
If you're referring to the Christuskirche, I'd hardly describe it as a cathedral, much less a grotesque one.
And yeah, there's literally only that one church that even approaches being described as a cathedral, so why the plural?
I take it you haven't been to Windhoek. I wouldn't say this little passage has captured the essence of my hometown at all. Sorry.
