In recent times, more and more states, particularly in America, are passing laws to allow the sale of marijuana in some form despite it being a controversial drug.
Critics fear that relaxing laws on its use can lead to drug abuse and other crime-related activities, yet scores of people, including entrepreneurs, businessmen, and celebrities, across the world, are beginning to cash in on the booming industry following the global rise in the use of cannabis, a substance which scientists say alleviates suffering from various diseases.
As the cannabis industry grows, an increasing number of colleges are adding cannabis courses to their curriculum and even offering complete degree programmes.
The move has basically been necessitated by the increasing demand for qualified employees across the cannabis industry supply chain and the increasing need for medical professionals to safely advise patients about medical cannabis, said Cannabiz media.
In America, about 200,000 people were employed in the cannabis industry in 2017 and this is expected to grow to at least 630,000 workers by 2025, statistics say.
It is, therefore, not surprising the growing number of colleges providing courses in cannabis in various fields – business, marketing, medical science, law, among others – to meet the demands in the industry.
