7 ruthless black leaders who didn’t deserve asylum after fleeing into exile

The former President of Haiti, Jean-Claude Duvalier…The Daily Beast

Jean-Claude Duvalier

Jean-Claude Duvalier was the President of Haiti from 1971 to 1986.

Despite allocating power to members of his advisors, scores of Haitians were tortured or killed which caused a mass exodus outside of the island.

Duvalier also lived a lavish lifestyle at the expense of his constituents.

He imposed an exile on himself to France and later returned to Haiti on January 16, 2011, when he was immediately arrested. Duvalier was charged with corruption.

He was never granted political asylum and died on October 4, 2014, in Haiti.
