The 2018 Winter Olympics has started in earnest and eight African countries are competing at the games ongoing in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Nigeria, Eritrea, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, South Africa, Morocco and Togo are raising high the flag of Africa in this year’s event.
Africa first entered the competition in 1984 at Sarajevo with Senegal alpine skier Lamine Gueye. The previous Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 featured only two African athletes from Togo and Zimbabwe.
This year, Nigeria and Eritrea made history with their debut in the competition. Check them out with the six other countries from the continent.
