A Black man wore a prosthetic white mask to commit several burglaries, police say

Authorities in Beverly Hills have arrested a 30-year-old Black man they describe as a “prolific” robber who allegedly wore a Hollywood-style prosthetic white mask fitted with fake hair to commit a spate of residential burglaries around Southern California.

According to KTLA, the suspect, identified as Rockim Prowell, was apprehended by the police on May 2 after his vehicle was pulled over. When the suspect’s car was searched, the police said they discovered the prosthetic white mask as well as items he had allegedly stolen in homes around the Beverly Hills area. The license plates he was also using for the vehicle were stolen, the police added.

Authorities also linked Prowell and his vehicle to two separate residential burglaries on April 20 and July 20 through surveillance footage. The suspect, who reportedly wore the conspicuous prosthetic white mask during those two burglaries, allegedly stole flat-screen televisions.

Police also said they recovered stolen items linking Prowell to other residential burglaries after they obtained a warrant to search his Inglewood home. “Detectives are working with investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department and the Newport Beach Police Department,” a statement from the police said. “We believe that the suspect is responsible for numerous residential burglaries within the Southern California area.”

Prowell has been charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of grand theft, and one count of vandalism, New York Post reported.
