Religion in Algeria is dominated by Muslims at about ninety-seven per cent of the population. Hence, Christmas is not celebrated in a magnificent style as compared to Christian-majority countries. The minority Christians in Algeria are, however, free to celebrate the day, which they usually do on the weekend closest to December 25. They go to church, perform various activities and games for their children and exchange gifts in the process. The non-Christians are invited to such activities.
