Afrisonore Presents Lagbaja in Concert: Jazz and Cocktails

Washington, D.C. – May 3, 2015 – This month, Afrisonore will launch Lagbaja in Concert: Jazz and Cocktails. The event will feature versatile West‐African musician, Lagbaja as he fires up his faceless, voiceless blitzkrieg on American soil. The masked musician will not only demonstrate genuine African influences like Yoruba music but will ingeniously fuse that with the soothing effect of authentic jazz music. Add to that a generous dose of very dance‐worthy Afrobeat music and you have got a well‐mixed musical cocktail! While many of Lagbaja’s songs are dance numbers, many others deal with the complex socio‐economic problems facing the continent.

Lagbaja in Concert will commence with two special performances by the world renowned singer songwriter. Lagbaja will be performing in New York on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the famous B.B. King Blues Club & Grill from 11:30 pm, and will do a curtain call in Washington DC on Sunday, May 17 at The Howard Theatre from 5 pm. Doors will open promptly and tickets for both events are currently on sale for New York City at www.afrisounds.com, www.ticketmaster.com and https://lagbajanyc.eventbrite.com for the Washington DC event and https://lagbjadc.eventbrite.com for the New York City event.

About Lagbaja: Lagbaja (born Bisade Ologunde in Lagos, Nigeria) is a multi‐award winning Nigerian singer and song‐ writer with over three decades of stage‐experience under his belt. Lágbájá is a Yoruba word that means nobody ‐ an allusion to the “common man”. Hugely underrated, this masked musician has, over the years, turned into one of Nigeria’s most remarkable contemporary artistes. Lagbaja sings, narrates, plays the Yoruba drums and is a connoisseur of the saxophone! Armed with a plethora of evocative compositions and a huge stage presence, Lagbaja is both enigmatic and charming in unison. No wonder then, that Lagbaja is now one of the most sought after artistes, equally dominating stages and airwaves. Which is why the folks at Afrisonore are thrilled to introduce Lagbaja’s magic to North America!
