Alleged 15th child of DMX comes forward in rapper’s estate battle

A Georgia woman has claimed to be the daughter of late rapper DMX, bringing to 15 the number of children the rapper allegedly fathered. The woman, identified as Raven Barmer-Simmons, reportedly contacted DMX’s other adult children in the past few weeks.

According to Page Six, Barmer-Simmons and the 14 alleged children of the late rapper will all be DNA tested to confirm their paternity.

The battle over DMX’s estate and all full earnings from his music took a new turn after Judge Helen Blackwood appointed DMX’s three sons Xavier, Tacoma and Sean Simmons – from his 16-year marriage to Tashera Simmons — as the temporary administrators of his estate.

The late rapper’s fiancée, Desiree Lindstrom, who is the mother of his five-year-old son Exodus, applied to the court to be declared his “common-law wife,” but her application was denied.

Lindstrom also petitioned the court to be an administrator of DMX’s estate as had the late rapper’s older daughters, Sasha Simmons and Jada Oden.

However, according to Herbert Nass, the trusts and estates attorney for Xavier, Tacoma and Sean Simmon: “Judge Blackwood appointed Xavier, Tacoma and Sean as the temporary administrators of the estate.

“The next big thing is to determine who are the rightful heirs. The estate is going to ask everyone to prove paternity through DNA testing. All the legal children of DMX will be entitled to an equal share of his estate,” according to Six Page.

Commenting on the state of the rapper’s estate, he said: “We need to collect assets and pay debts and administration costs.

“We don’t have a lot of information about his income streams, but now the temporary administrators have been appointed, we can ask questions and expect answers.

“I want to point out that when a person dies without a will, a surety bond needs to be posted, and obtaining a bond is difficult. We spoke to a number of surety companies and it was only Thomas Whittemore at Executive Bond who was able to get it done.”

At the peak of his game, DMX sold 74 million records globally. However, almost a month after his demise, it emerged that the musician left an estate less than $1 million, Face2Face Africa earlier reported.

DMX died at the age of 50. This was after a week-long stay in ICU at a New York Hospital following a cardiac arrest that was believed to have stemmed from a drug overdose.

In his music, DMX has been very open about the traumas he experienced during childhood and his unabated drug addiction struggles. Last year, the Lord Give Me a Sign rapper also opened up about unwillingly smoking crack when he was 14 years old after his former mentor passed it to him without disclosing what he had laced it with.

Along with music mogul Jay Z, DMX and Ja Rule were in the short-lived New York hip hop group known as Murder Inc. The group was formed by producer Irv Gotti and enjoyed modest success.
