A jury yesterday found American comedian and actor Bill Cosby guilty of three counts of sexual assault.
He was on trial for drugging and sexually assaulting former basketball player Andrea Constand in his home in 2004.
The 80-year-old actor faces up to 10 years in prison for each count and is likely to serve the jail term concurrently.
However, he remains out of jail until his sentencing despite the prosecution’s concerns that he is a flight risk since he has access to planes- a statement that got a response from the silent Cosby.
“He doesn’t have a plane, a*****le,” Cosby said.
Judge Steven O’Neill ruled that Cosby should not leave his home and if he opts to stay in one of his homes in a different state, he should be fitted with a tracking device.
A similar trial against Cosby in 2017 ended in a mistrial after the jury failed to reach a unanimous vote.
Judge O’Neill will hand down a sentence in the next 60 to 90 days.
The verdict was met with joy from the victims and their supporters.
Some of the accusers who were present in court cried at the guilty verdict.
Attorney Gloria Allred, representing 33 victims of Cosby, expressed her gratitude to the jury for the verdict.
“Justice has been done,” she shouted in a press conference.
