America’s climate of hate coming home to roost

I am a Pan-African/Black American woman who was happy to know Donald Trump was running for the presidency. During his campaign, I enjoyed listening to his cutting rhetoric. It was then that I thought to myself, now that’s a man who’s gonna expose the true American heart. I was right.

Since then, I have seen the best parts of America’s hate. It used to be a more undercover operation, but our nation’s hate is bold and brazen.

This exposé is shameful.

Worshipers are murdered in their temples by terrorists. Suspicious packages litter our mail system. Hate and violence are our commonplace.

No matter where we go, we are not safe from this madness. Noteworthy news is a fight between two major news stations. Politicians are pitted one against the other.

Being so close to the national elections, who are the leaders we are to look upon for guidance? Our motivation to vote is to stack our particular sides with the group we like best regardless of the economic and social responsibilities.

When do we stand united? When do we believe that all men are created equal?

We must begin to see that these issues are black and white. It is our insecurities and fears of the other. Hate is oozing from our invented social constructs, party lines, and denominations.

Our American nationalism has distorted our consciousness of the greater good. How far will we go to prove our points–to affirm our legitimacy as right? We are making a debauchery out of ourselves and the world is watching. Our little children are watching.

I am a disabled veteran, and I appreciate the efforts of those in authority who strive to shape a new foundation to make a great America, but what we are seeing is a war of worlds pretending to be one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

We exist only to see what captivates our fancies while indulging in what satisfies our palates, without care for the ones who suffer from our atrocities.

And we have the audacity to say, God Bless America, when we are clearly damned because our chickens have come home to roost.
