Black love: These celebs proudly and unapologetically defended their partners in public

There’s nothing more fulfilling than knowing your partner has your back through thick and thin and in whichever situation you find yourself whatsoever.

At the end of the day, it’s for better for worse, for richer for poorer and also in sickness and in health.

For black men who are truly committed to their partners and relationships, this virtually comes as an easy sport and they jump at the opportunity of defending their queens any chance they get.

In the wake of Gabrielle Union losing her job as a judge on America’s Got Talent amidst reported allegations over racism and sexism, among others, her husband, Dwyane Wade came to her defense and was full of praises for her.

In a series of Tweets, the former NBA star and champion revealed he was trying to come to terms with why his wife lost her job, particularly when the show got several new viewers because of her.

“Men lie, Women lie, numbers don’t” Over this past year I’ve been approached by many people saying that my wife @itsgabrielleu is the main reason they’ve started watching #AGT or that they love her insight and sincerity on the show,” he started.

“So when i got the news that my wife was being fired—my first question was obviously why!? Iam still waiting on a good answer to that question. But if anyone knows @itsgabrielleu or have heard of her you know she’s an advocate for our community and culture.”

Nevertheless, he didn’t stop short at showering praises on her:

“As proud as i were of her being selected as a judge on #AGT— Iam even more proud of her standing up for what she stands for and that’s US.”

He added: “So [champagne emoji] to you @itsgabrielleu on not losing sight of the lessons we’ve talked about teaching our daughter and for kicking ass while you were on that platform. Number 1 judge on one of the biggest shows in the world.”

On the back of Wade’s warm gesture, we share with you other black men who proudly and unapologetically defended their current and former partners in public:

Steph and Ayesha Curry

Steph Curry

The Golden State Warriors star and champion quickly came to the defense of his wife, Ayesha Curry when she was picked on after opening up about her marriage insecurities on Red Table Talk.

“I have zero—this sounds weird—but, like, male attention. So then I begin to internalize it and I’m like, ‘Is something wrong with me?’ I don’t want it, but it would be nice to know that someone’s looking,” she revealed on the show.

Among many other things, including how uncomfortable she feels when her husband is around female fans, her comments stirred up controversy. Her husband, however, let the world know whose side he’s on via social media.

“Proud of you for being authentic and putting yourself out there- not being afraid of the potential bulls–t and nonsense that could and did come at you. Way more positive than negative with all of this. Keep being you. I love you,” he shared on Instagram.

Nick Cannon and his ex-wife Mariah Carey

Nick Cannon

After Grammy award-winning singer Mariah Carey had had enough of Eminem’s constant bullying of her on his songs and claims that they once dated which she denies, she responded with 2009 single Obsessed, which seemed to call out the Slim Shady rapper.

On Eminem’s Bagpipes from Baghdad single, he rapped: “Mariah whatever happened to us? Why did we ever have to break-up?”

He also called out her ex-husband, Nick Cannon, rapping: “Nick Cannon, you better back the f— up. I’m not playing, I want her back, you punk … I wish you luck with that … w—.”

Cannon responded to Eminem and made it known he wasn’t happy with his utterances on his personal blog.

“From man to man, you talking out of pocket to my wife. You’ve gotta be held accountable for that so I need to see you face to face,” he shared.

Their back and forth resulted in diss tracks from both parties with Cannon even challenging Eminem to a charity boxing match.

T.I. and Tiny

T.I.

The multi-platinum selling rapper put Azealia Banks in her place after she insulted his wife, Tiny, in since-deleted Tweets.

In an Instagram post, the Bring Em Out rapper went all guns blazing on Banks, calling her a “musty-mouthed-th*t-bot-bad-body-syphilis-lipped-rectum-vomit-unimportant-ugggggly-monstrosity-of-a-maggot-ass B*****TCCHHHH!!!!!!”

“If u speak ill of my family again … I WILL END YOU!!!!!!,” he threatened. “… people fall down stairs daily…. U better watch yo step,u ungly-ass Gremlin-baby #nerveofdisCretin …”
