The World Economic Forum (WEF) has cast a spotlight on the initiative of building roads with plastic bags in Ghana. As seen in the video and explained by the WEF, the bags are shredded and mixed with sand creating a new form of asphalt that is resilient, long-lasting and uses fewer natural resources to make.

They further added that any type of plastic rubbish can be used to create the blocks. Ghana’s Ministry of Environment is apparently using the blocks in one district and wants to help the company, known as Nelplast and founded by Nelson Boateng expand its business.
