Burna Boy, four other African musicians grab 2020 BET nominations

Nigeria’s Burna Boy has been nominated for the 2020 BET Awards. The ‘African Giant’ was nominated in the Best International Act category, the same category he won in 2019.

This nomination follows an impressive outing in 2019, resulting in a Grammy Award nomination plus a host of local awards. Other Nigerian winners in this category include Ice Prince, Davido, D’Banj, and Tuface.

Meanwhile, rapper Drake leads this year’s nominees’ list with six nominations. They include: Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Video of the Year, and two nods for both Best Collaboration and Viewer’s Choice, for his features with Chris Brown (“No Guidance”) and Future (“Life Is Good”).

Newcomers Megan Thee Stallion and Roddy Ricch are tied with five nominations each. Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Brown, Lizzo, and DaBaby follow with four nominations each, the Guardian reported.

The event is slated for June 29 and will show on BET Africa at 2 am. Below are the other African nominees:
