Saadi Gaddafi
Saadi Gaddafi, a career footballer in Libya and Italy and son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, was fined 500 Libyan dinars ($377) and handed a suspended one-year prison sentence for drinking and possession of alcohol in 2006 which resulted in the killing of a footballer Bashir Rayani.
He fled to Niger during the 2011 revolt that toppled his father, but was extradited in 2014 to the capital Tripoli where he has been held for murder of the footballer.
In April 2018, Saadi Gaddafi was cleared by an appeals court of murdering the footballer. He was found not guilty of “murder, deception, threats, enslavement and defamation of the former player Bashir Rayani,” a justice ministry statement cited.
