The Nigerian master-novelist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie will soon be in what is expected to be an intellectually titanic conversation with the American writer and politician, Hillary Clinton at the 2018 PEN World Voices Festival.
Hillary Clinton, the author of Living History will be delivering the 12th Arthur Miller Freedom to Write Lecture themed Resist and Re-imagine on April 22, 2018, to be given at the Great Hall at Cooper Union in Manhattan. After the lecture, this year’s theme of dialogue in which Chimamanda will converse with Clinton will be about the future of women and girls around the world.
Adichie is not new to PEN Festivals; she delivered her PEN Festival Arthur Miller lecture in 2015. The 2018 PEN Festival lecture will feature more than 165 writers of over 50 nationalities from April 16–22nd 2018. The PEN International as a chapter is focused on freedom of world voices as its hallmark.
This timely dialogue between these two unflagging crusaders for rights of women and girls is expected to give deep insights into how the world is bound to imagine a better future for women and girls as well as the similarly humble.
Arthur Miller Freedom to Write Lecture is named after the late American playwright and essayist Arthur Miller. Miller is longtime leader of PEN and un-matched protagonist for free expression. This is why the lecture has in the past invited voices of human freedom like Wole Soyinka in 2011, Orhan Pamuk, Salman Rushdie, and Roxane Gay. Roxane Gay is a literary feminist; she gave her lecture last year.
