Contemporary African books you should read instead of Obama's recommended titles

Black Bazaar

One of Africa’s satirical writers, Alain Mabanckou takes us to the streets of France in this novel. Told in the first person, Black Bazaar highlights the experience of Congolese people living in France including living in terrible conditions yet maintaining the ‘Sapeur lifestyle’. It is a great commentary on migration, duality and legacy of colonisation in the modern world.
