Elon Musk’s transgender daughter wants name change to break ties with him

The transgender daughter of Elon Musk has filed a request to have her name changed to reflect her current gender identity, Reuters reported. She also said she wants the change to be effected because “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.”

The 18-year-old is said to have filed the petition at the Los Angeles County Superior Court in April. The teen, in the petition, wants her gender recognition to be changed from male to female. She also wants her new name to be registered. She was previously known as Xavier Alexander Musk.

The document, however, did not disclose her new name. Musk shares his teen daughter with Justine Wilson. The two divorced in 2008. The reason behind the fall-out between the 50-year-old and his daughter is unknown.

The news of the filed petition comes in the wake of Musk throwing his weight behind the Republican Party. Elected GOP representatives have been pushing for legislation to cap the rights of transgender people in the United States.

In 2020, the South-African-born billionaire also shared his opinion on transgender people and their pronoun choices. “I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare,” he tweeted at the time.
