Ever tried an authentic Jamaican jerk chicken and wondered what goes into its seasoning? Try this homemade recipe

If you’ve ever tried an authentic Jamaican jerk chicken, you’d know the jerk spice is packed with so much flavor.

The jerk spice is peculiar to Caribbean natives but most notably Jamaicans, when added to chicken, beef or shrimps.

The vegans and vegetarians are not left out. You can add jerk seasoning to your vegetables to give them that extra kick. The jerk seasoning blend is gluten-free, paleo, vegan, clean eating, real food.

Almost every supermarket stocks the jerk spice but why not make it from scratch and make sure you are not ingesting any unhealthy additives that might not be useful to your body.

The best part is, you can save up some money in the process.

This jerk spice is based on the Jamaican jerk chicken marinade but instead of using the fresh ingredients, we will use the dry options.

It will give it a longer shelf life. When kept well, it can last for a year and it’s way easier to use. When the color starts to change or fade, then you need to make a new blend for use.

The blend of sweet and savory ingredients will send your taste buds on a truly refreshing and rewarding journey. I’ve been hooked since I tried it and my family hardly ever makes any chicken without jerk spice.

You can customize the ingredients to suit your pallets. Give this a try and let us know how it went.

Fun tip; garnish your jerk meals with mangoes, they go very well together.
