Face2Face on Campus|African Redefined: A Renaissance In African Business

Washington, DC, February 25-26, 2011

The Howard University African Students Association and the African Business Club had a full weekend of events down in North-West Washington DC geared towards “African Redefined: A Renaissance In African Business.” Events started off with the first panel discussion, The African Diaspora In Business. Afterwards, the African Students Association Pageant crowned Mr & Miss Africa.

The theme of Saturday’s events saw conference panelist and participants engaging in discussions about Banking on Sustainability, Corporate Citizenship, Rising to the Challenge, New Horizon: Reshaping the Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Industries, and Entrepreneurship and SME Development.

This year’s conference boasted of a lineup rivaling any of the likes in the United States. Ambassador Robert C. Perry, Toyin Sanni of United Bank for Africa, U.S. Representative Bobby L. Rush, Dr. Samura Kamara, Mark Walton of The Africa Channel, Folusho Phillips of Phillips Consulting, Florizelle Liser Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Africa in USTR, and Actor Jeffery Wright.

The result was a number of inspiring discourses about continental Africa not just being open for business, but to encourage the businesses to be innovative and global.
