Fans of superhero movie, “Blade”, could not hold their excitement after two-time Oscar winner, Mahershala Ali was announced as the next face of the project.
Marvel made the super announcement on Saturday at its panel at Comic-Con International.
The Blade was previously played by Wesley Snipes.
Blade is a 1998 American superhero movie which shows the life of a half-human and half-vampire who protects the human race from Vampires and the undead. The film starred Wesley Snipes, Stephen Dorff, Kris Kristofferson and N’Bushe Wright.
Ali, who has won several academy awards for his roles in Green Book, Moonlight and most recently, Trust Detective, was given a hero’s welcome after the announcement as he wore a “Blade” hat.
At the unveiling of a host of movies set for release over the next two years, Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios said, “Mahershala Ali is the perfect Blade because he is one of the greatest actors working today.”
No release date was announced but other movies set for premiere are: Black Widow (May 1, 2020); the Eternals (Nov. 6 2020); Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (Feb. 12, 2021); Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse of Madness (May 7, 2021) and Thor: Love and Thunder (Nov. 5, 2021).
