Poem: We Are the Everlasting Fire

Aren’t you tired of hearing about our continuous sad state, poor joy, and deplorable conditions? We are almost at the finish line — we are now enjoying Miriam Makeba’s rendition.

How soothing was your lyrics, Olivier N’Goma, since each word stimulated a musical friction as we reflect on what took place in Soweto and spread to Bujumbura and all over Africa’s sections?

We have so much to celebrate and will no longer waste our sense of concentration.

In fact, we are focused on rebuilding even though these wars, genocides, and deaths are caused by their lack of understanding and bling oppression.

Those people were almost there — they have tried to quiet and scare us so what are sanctions? They are nothing compared to the bright future we have for this Dark Land and her population.

Praises to our Ancestors for this sense of proclivity and innate predisposition.

The mood hasn’t changed yet we started listening to Pépé Kallé; it is Africans’ celebration. Our fire will not die: a comeuppance deflected, our past misery and ongoing struggles ended up in perdition.
