Kingston is the capital and largest city of Jamaica.
Made up of two parts – the historic Downtown Kingston and New Kingston – the city is located on the southeastern coast of Jamaica.
In the Western Hemisphere, Kingston is the largest predominantly English-speaking city south of the U.S., with an estimated population of 662, 426.
It was founded in July 1692 as a place for survivors who were massively affected by the Port Royal earthquakes. Being one of the worst disasters in history, the earthquake reportedly killed more than 5,000 people.
Despite this setback, Kingston has grown to be one of the most commercially viable cities in the Carribean.
Its access point is through the Norman Manley International Airport and the local Tinson Pen Aerodrome airport while tourism remains a major driver of its economy.
Home to a number of urban parks like Emancipation Park, Hope Gardens, Devon House, National Heroes’ Park, St William Grant Park, and Mandela Park, the city usually hosts major events and festivities across the globe.
