Floyd Mayweather’s daughter Iyanna pleads guilty to 2020 stabbing incident

Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather, the daughter of boxer Floyd Mayweather, has pleaded guilty to the 2020 stabbing of love rival Lapratta Jacobs. 21-year-old Mayweather pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the Harris County Court in Houston on Wednesday, according to The Independent.

Mayweather has a son with rapper NBA YoungBoy, who also has a child with Jacobs. In April 2020, Mayweather was arrested after an argument with Jacobs at Youngboy’s home in Houston. Mayweather, according to reports at the time, stabbed Jacobs twice with two knives in a kitchen at the rapper’s home.

Jacobs was hospitalized while Mayweather was taken into custody but was released on a $30,000 bond. She admitted “unlawfully, intentionally and unknowingly” causing “bodily injury to Lapattra Jacobs” by cutting her “with a knife”, per documents cited by The Independent.

Mayweather’s guilty plea means she will avoid a possible 20-year prison term. She will be sentenced on June 16 and now faces up to six years’ probation.

“The agreement calls for Iyanna being on deferred adjudication for a period of 6 years after which she will have no felony conviction and the case will be dismissed,” Mayweather’s attorney Kent Schaffer told The Independent. “She is eligible to have the deferred adjudication end after two years pending her good behavior.”

“Although we believe that Iyanna was defending herself after being attacked, we thought this was the safest resolution for her,” said Schaffer. “This is especially true since her boyfriend and his bodyguards refused to testify; probably due to their own legal problems.”

Mayweather has waived her right to an appeal. According to NBC News, Jacobs has also sued Mayweather for damages, alleging “physical pain and mental anguish, physical impairment, medical costs, loss of earnings and disfigurement.”
