Former Guinean High Fashion Model Continues to Give Through Scholarship Pageant

Guinean born Hawa Barry Diallo made a name for herself in America, by building a career in the fashion industry as a print and commercial model doing campaigns for companies like Dudley Cosmetics, Target, Essence Magazine, Amina Magazine and McNeil Healthcare (makers of Motrin).

Hawa utilized her notoriety as a model to bring attention to her place of birth and women's issues.  In order to effectively provide services for Guinean girls and women, Mrs. Barry-Diallo founded NIMBA Entertainment Inc.,an event production company as well as The Nimba Foundation to help girls and young women pursue their educational dreams and lay a strong foundation for future leadership in Guinea. Through NIMBA Hawa produces the Miss Guinea North America Scholarship Pageant in order to achieve several goals: raise awareness for improving healthcare in Guinea, raise funds in support of educational scholarships and cultural events in the US and Guinea.

NIMBA will host its fourth Annual Miss Guinea North America Scholarship Pageant and Cultural Showcase on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Charles Herbert Flower's Performing Art Center 10001 Ardwick Ardmore Road, Springdale, MD 20774

Contestants must be 17 years of age, single and born in Guinea or of Guinean Heritage. "This is an opportunity for strong, intelligent, talented and dynamic young Guinean women to shine before the world and represent the best of our culture and heritage," beams Hawa Barry- Diallo.

In light of America's current economic trouble, NIMBA takes a proactive stance in raising scholarship funds through the community to alleviate budget cuts to educational programs.  "We must make a way for our young women who aspire towards higher education," says Barry.

Hawa Barry-Diallo continues to send delegates of her country every year to prominent International pageants such as:
-Miss Tourism Queen International (China) where her delegate claimed the 2nd place in 2009 out of 94 countries that participated.

-MissAfrica USA: THE 2010 Miss Africa USA Queen is the first first Queen of Miss Guinee North America Scholarship Pageant. The second runner-up of Miss Africa USA 2011 is also the 2010 Miss Guinee North America Queen.
