The 3rd Annual Ghana Parade will bring positive visibility of the Ghanaian community to the
Borough of the Bronx. On Saturday, August 20, 2011 the community will be celebrating their liberation, growth, humanity, and pride. This day of fun will be filled with special guest performances, cultural demonstrations, celebrity appearances, vendors, games, presentations, traditional cuisine, face painting for children and more. The cultural procession starts promptly at 11:00a.m. with the festival to take place thereafter.

In attendance will be political dignitaries: Representatives from the Ghana Embassy, Mayor
Bloomberg‟s Office, Senator Ruth Thompson, Deputy Borough President Aurelia Greene,
Assemblywoman Vanessa L. Gibson, Assemblyman Eric Stevenson, Mt. Vernon City Council Yuhanna Edwards and more.

A collective of dynamic Ghanaian professionals continue to join forces to pioneer this paramount event. Their commonality of passion and patriotism for their motherland continues to bind them. The National Ghana Parade Council since its inception in 2008 continues to demonstrate their dedication and support for Ghanaian„s and African‟s alike by successfully planning programs throughout the year that are inclusive of all Africans and those of the Diaspora. NGPC will continue to carry on the vision for Ghanaians in and outside of the Diaspora to express pride to a place that has given them their roots and culture; their beloved Ghana.

NGPC‟s vision is to impact a younger generation of Ghanaians, to remind and bring them a sense
of home so that they may someday return and do their part to better Ghana as a whole. NGPC also wants to nurture and inspire Ghanaians everywhere in their continuance of cultural expression, while instilling a sense of unity amongst the youth and elders.

NGPC is seeking natives of Ghana, friends of Ghana, the Bronx community, and residents of the
tri-state area to attend this year‟s parade and make it another success. Bring a piece of Ghanaian or African paraphernalia, whether it‟s a flag, an article of clothing, etc. Most importantly, on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Crotona Park, NY your presence is required and a fist full of pride to celebrate the Ghanaian culture and give thanks to Ghana in the grandest of ways. The parade march starts promptly at 11:00a.m. You don‟t want to miss the most exciting and cultural procession ever!
