July 16, 2012—-The winner of the 2012 Miss Face of Africa Texas Pageant is Emma Van Lare from Ghana. This young lady was chosen out of 14 contestants; she embodies inner and outer beauty and will be a great role model for young African girls in our community.
Ms Emma Van Lare is 20 years of age and attends the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Radio, TV & Film. Her platform is to bring exposure to resources that can help Africa be self sufficient. She intends on starting her own foundation in the near future.
As she states “Being a finalist for the Miss Face of Africa – Texas Pageant was, by itself, enough for me. I met so many extraordinary African women and learned more about what it means to be Ghanaian and, greater still, African. I learned that we have many problems that affect our respective countries uniquely, but we are united in our desire to make a difference, to make things better. Because of this pageant, I have become more confident in who I am and what I have to offer the world. I encourage every eligible girl out there to take a leap of faith and audition for the pageant next year. You have no idea where it may lead you and I am so excited to be taking this next step in my life”.
This event had 300 attendees who witnessed Africa at its best as the young ladies showed off their talents, swim wear with their African flags as a wraps, Traditional Attire from their country, evening gowns and Q&A segment. First runner up was Emmanuela Nwora representing Nigeria, Second runner up was Mam Dabo representing Gambia , who also took home the title of Miss Congeniality, Third runner up was Abi Wuwih from Cameroon and Fourth runner up was Jaclyn Akamnonu representing Nigeria. Another title holder was Ms. Kim Jorilvert of Cameroon for Miss Photogenic.
Face of Africa USA would like to thank the community for their support and all the lovely ladies for participating in the pageant. Miss Face of Africa Texas 2012 Emma Van Lare will be going to Ghana as one of her prizes serviced by Arik Air this August.
