#GirlPowerRules as Tracee Ellis Ross signs multi-year deal with ABC Signature

Tracee Ellis Ross’s production company, Joy Mill Entertainment, has found a new home at ABC Signature as the Black-ish star has signed a multi-year deal with the giant production company to produce content that continues to highlight different realities.

Joy Mill Entertainment will still make content across broadcast, cable, and streaming services.

Ross said, “I love sharing stories and using storytelling as a way to connect and celebrate humanity. As an actor, I’ve had the joy of inhabiting nuanced and dynamic roles. As an executive producer, I am able to build stories, gather creatives and shape worlds as a way to illuminate different realities.”

According to Variety, not only does Ross play Dr. Rainow Johnson on the hit “Black-ish” series, but she is also an executive producer, narrator, and a co-creator of “Mixed-ish” which airs on ABC.

The multifaceted award-winning actress has a Golden Globe and six NAACP Image Awards under her belt and was nominated for her fourth Emmy Award for her role on “Black-ish”.

To be able to bring quality content through her own production company, Ross is enlisting the services of Adriana Ambriz as head of development. Ambriz’s old role at her former company, One Community, was developing, acquiring, and producing features.

She also has experience working with BET where she oversaw production and development for shows such as “Mandela “Tales” and “Street Dreams: The Story of Nas.”

Jonnie Davis, president of ABC Signature, spoke highly of Ross. He said, “Tracee is a beloved member of the ABC Signature family and, as everyone knows, has brought so much to our ‘ish’ universe.

“We also love and admire Tracee’s passion for storytelling and developing projects, so we’re thrilled that Joy Mill Entertainment will be housed at our studio. We’re already incredibly excited by the projects she’s bringing to us in this new role.”

The ‘ish’ universe continues to expand with a new addition as the new spin-off “Old-ish” on Freeform will follow the lives of Laurence Fishburne and Jennifer Lewis as they relocate to a “rapidly gentrifying neighborhood of Los Angeles.”

We all love Ross’s natural hair and she rocks it unapologetically always and so it was just right for her to create her own natural hair care brand as well. She is the CEO of Pattern which caters to the needs of all coily, curly, and textures sistas out there. What can’t Ross do? We are yet to find out.
