Here are the 2020 least expensive cities for expatriates in Africa

Expatriate employees are today forcing many organizations to review their global mobility programs due to the coronavirus pandemic. In the wake of the new working arrangements, changing technology, and adaptive ways of thinking, institutions are already considering alternate forms of international assignments.

To help make the right choice about the cost of living in various cities, Mercer’s annual Cost of Living Survey will come in handy. It is one of the world’s most comprehensive reports, and is designed to help multinational companies and governments determine compensation strategies for their expatriate employees.

Mercer released its 26th annual Cost of Living Survey with Hong Kong topping the list of most expensive cities for expatriates. The survey includes 209 cities across five continents.

According to Mercer, the data was collected in March when price variances in many locations were not significant due to the pandemic. It measured the comparative cost of more than 200 items in each location, including housing, transportation, food, clothing, household goods, and entertainment.
