Here are the highest-paid Black Oscar nominees 2021

The Academy Awards or Oscars were handed out Sunday at a colorful ceremony in Los Angeles. The 93rd annual event was held at Union Station amidst tight coronavirus rules.

Winning an Oscar does not only give one publicity but also increases their chances of improving their future earnings. According to Forbes, prior to Angelina Jolie’s Academy Award in 2019, she did not command a wide audience or huge paycheck.

However, by 2020, she became the world’s second-highest-paid actress with $35.5 million in earnings. Another Oscar winner, Brie Larson, also moved from low-budget fare to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain Marvel, according to Forbes.

This year’s five top-earning Oscar-nominated actors earned a combined $41 million over the past 12 months. The figure is less than half the $87.5 million Dwayne Johnson (Rock) made last year as the world’s highest-paid actor, Forbes says. The top five earners this year include three Black people.
