From the discovery of the last known slave ship that smuggled enslaved Africans to the U.S. to the last known survivor of the U.S. slave trade, scores of Americans continue to hold talks about this complicated period in history that negatively affects Africans and African Americans alike.

As days go by, details about the tragic event that have been hidden for centuries emerge. There have been concerns about how slavery is hastily taught in the American educational system while apologists try to downplay the inhumane practice to suit their agendas.
