A Houston woman, Darlene Brown, experienced a harrowing ordeal on May 16 when a powerful storm struck downtown Houston. Brown was waiting to pick up her brother from work at Wells Fargo Plaza when fierce winds shifted her parked car against a curb and shattered the rear window.
Her brother ended up being trapped in an elevator due to the storm, while Brown was left stranded in her car, according to KTRK.
“I thought I was actually gonna blow away in the air,” Brown recalled of the harrowing moment the high winds moved her car and blew out the back window.
“It felt like I was going up in the air, really. I felt like it had picked it up and moved it, and I thought it was gonna take it away,” Brown said.
Local attorney Michael Lombardino, parked behind Brown, captured the dramatic moment her car was shoved into a curb by the storm on his dash cam. The storm, which caused significant damage to the Wells Fargo building and other areas, eventually subsided.
Brown managed to leave the lot and return home, only to discover that a tree had fallen onto her house.
“It couldn’t get any worse. I just say, well, I don’t know what we gonna do now,” she lamented.
Brown told KTRK that she was able to cut up and remove the fallen tree from her home without major damage. However, her car is still undergoing repairs due to the storm damage.
