How black intellectuals Malcolm X, Nkrumah, Lumumba and MLK got killed over their pro-Black activism

In response to Walter Rodney’s assassination story, a reader asked why Black heroes and intellectuals are always assassinated.

Before hazarding a guess, it will be prudent to ponder on why any group of persons or state will claim the life of an individual. Such lives are truncated at a point because states fear they would unmask them before the people. Also, it sometimes happen when they fear the intellectual discourse the Black hero or heroine is having with the masses will eventually arm them psychologically, economically and militarily to topple the aggressive force.

Take the impediments put in the way of greats for the African cause like Malcolm X, Kwame Nkrumah, Patrice Lumumba and Martin Luther King, which eventually snuffed their lives directly or indirectly.

Usually, when persons of African ancestry on the continent or in the diaspora find the need to rally blacks to be socially, economically, culturally and militarily strong, they are faced with opposition directly or indirectly from the imperialist forces and their neo-colonial agents.

In this piece, Face2Face Africa looks at some of the causes which led to the death of some black intellectuals in the struggle for black independence.
