How to deal with an online racist 101

In as much as we’re in the 21st century and we expect racism and discrimination against people of colour to not be so prevalent, it seems like it’s not toning down anytime soon.

Day in, day out, we hear of cases of conceited white folks who clearly lack common sense giving us reasons why racism and discrimination are still unofficially institutionalized.

Thanks to evolution and the power of the internet, however, quite a handful of these perpetrators do not walk away scot-free as they’re left exposed for the world to see how despicable they truly are.

Dealing with racist incidents comes in different ways. The new wave, which works almost all the time is picking your phone, videoing the incident, posting it on social media, then waiting for it to go viral.

There is, however, another innovative way which is worth giving a shot. In a series of posts, a Twitter user by name @queersocialism shared how he handled a racist white guy who felt he could probably get away with being stupid.

Take a look at what transpired and the consequences of his actions below:

The first conversation…

The white guy’s response…yes he actually tweeted that.

Well, @queersocialism had all the time in the world for Austin…

He managed to get his Facebook account details and bio…

Then called his school to file an official complaint…

He then reported his offensive tweet which Twitter responded…

Then looked up his relations on Facebook…

Then came the real job…He first shared a screenshot of Austin’s offensive tweet to his father…

And to his mother of course…

To his uncle…

His aunt…

Not forgetting his grandmother…

He actually wanted to do the whole family but there were too many of them.

Some days later, he shared an update of a reply from the racist’s uncle…

Take a look at their conversation below…

His uncle had a point though, but hey, mission accomplished. All in all, Austin the racist got more than he bargained for, so we good.
