An Indiana woman who accused her boyfriend of cheating on her used Apple AirTag and GPS to locate and fatally knock him down after she confronted him and another woman outside a bar, a probable cause affidavit for her arrest stated.
According to The Indianapolis Star, the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Gaylyn Morris, ran over Andre Smith multiple times with her car during a confrontation at a bar in the wee hours of Friday. The incident happened at the bar’s parking lot, and officers who responded to the scene immediately took Morris into custody.
Smith was pronounced dead by medical officials. The Marion County Coroner’s Office stated that Smith, 26, passed away after a vehicle deliberately hit him.
Morris informed a witness that she managed to track Smith to the bar by using Apple AirTag and GPS, the probable cause affidavit for her arrest stated. Morris also said Smith was in the company of a woman when she confronted him.
Morris also told the witness that she was Smith’s girlfriend and he was cheating on her. During the confrontation, Morris grabbed an empty wine bottle and told the witness that she was going to attack the woman Smith was with, investigators said.
But Smith grabbed the bottle and got between Morris and the woman after the suspect tried hitting the woman with it. The three individuals were then told to leave the bar. But the woman who was in Smith’s company stayed behind for a food order to be served.
A witness also informed police that she was in the bar when she saw Morris pull “forward” and clip the “victim (Smith).”
“He went down, at which time… (Morris) then backed over him and then pulled forward and hit him for the third time,” the witness added, per the probable cause affidavit.
Morris then exited the vehicle and attempted to confront the woman in the bar. But the responding officers ultimately detained her, police said, per The Indianapolis Star.
Authorities have preliminarily charged Morris with murder. The final charges will be decided by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
