Kendrick Perkins likens himself to Jesus after LeBron James unfollows him on X

Retired NBA star cum ESPN sports analyst Kendrick Perkins doesn’t seem too bothered after his former teammate LeBron James unfollowed him on X (formerly Twitter).

Per the New York Post, Perkins, 39, responded to the news of the future Hall of Famer and NBA champion unfollowing him on the social media platform after an account that tracks NBA players’ latest follows and unfollows shared the news.

“Everybody didn’t follow Jesus, I’ll be ok,” the former Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers star quoted on the post on Saturday. His response also garnered over 7 million views, with Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant even touching on the 39-year-old’s comment on Instagram.

“Bro think he Jesus. Lmao,” Durant, 35, wrote. But Perkins on Monday touched on James unfollowing him again on ESPN’s “First Take”

“Imagine unfollowing me on Twitter, but you still got to wake up and watch me on TV every day,” said Perkins. “I ain’t going nowhere anytime soon.”

Perkins also labeled James, who is the NBA’s all-time scorer, as a “sensitive” person. He further claimed the Los Angeles Lakers star had taken issue with him after he judged James and also touched on the termination of his team’s head coach Darvin Ham.

“The few times that I disagree with you, you get in your feelings. You don’t pick up the phone and hit me up or send me a text,” Perkins said.

Perkins’ rebuttal to James doesn’t really come as a surprise as he’s popularly known for making controversial comments as a sports analyst.
