Marsai Martin isn’t taking any breaks and her latest Hollywood deal is all the proof. With just 4 days to mark the 3-month release of the very successful comedy movie, Little, which she produced and co-starred alongside Issa Rae and 2019 BET Awards host Regina Hall, the Black-ish star and founder of Genius Productions just scored her biggest Hollywood deal yet.
The 14-year-old mogul in the making is set to produce and star in the adaptation of the yet to be released but highly anticipated novel Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston.
The novel follows the story of a black girl who goes on a journey in which she discovers her hidden powers in a contemporary real-world fantasy setting making it all the more adventurous.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the contract is a partnership between Universal Studios and Marsai’s production house Genius Productions which will see her and her father act as producers of the movie. Genius Productions won the deal with Universal Studios beating Disney, Paramount and Sony. Although details about her acting role in the movie remains discreet, it is already being speculated that Marsai will star as the leading black girl in the fantasy movie.
Marsai will work alongside Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman of Mandeville Films who produced the 2017 remake of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast which grossed $1.3 billion after its release.
With less than 7 years of acting and the major leaps she has taken, Marsai Martin can be considered as the Princess of Hollywood until she blossoms into adulthood and secures her throne as the Queen.
For now, the very focused teenager is spreading the #Blackgirlmagic message around the world and working hard for more black representation in Hollywood. She is also expected to present at the 19th BET Awards scheduled for June 23, 2019.
