The late and great playwright, Toni Morrison once said “being a Black woman writer is not a shallow place but a rich one to write from. It doesn’t limit my imagination; it expands it.”
So race and gender is not a limitation, but rather a channel through which these young and contemporary writers are crafting truth. The plays these women are writing are here to nourish; they are bold, brash, and firmly plant us at the center.
