Miyosha Weston is first Black woman to own a creative daiquiri and margarita bar in Southeast Houston, Texas

Meet Miyosha Weston, who owns a creative daiquiri and margarita bar in Southeast Houston. The establishment, My Famous Daiq’s and Dogs, is known for its creative drink selections and Gourmet Hotdogs. It is also the first Black woman-owned creative daiquiri and margarita bar in Southeast Houston, Texas, as reported by Black Business.

The dedicated wife, mother, sister, and daughter has 33 years of corporate experience and comes to the field of entrepreneurship with a wealth of knowledge and passion which the industry needs. Her groundbreaking business started in May 2021.

She launched her business after her husband lost his CPAP machine and encountered World Famous Daiquiris and Margaritas To Go, next to the sleep center that provided him with a replacement machine. Since then, she has seen consistent growth in her business, leveraging the internet and social media as well as networking through the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce, according to Canvas Rebel.

What is more, in addition to adding food to the portfolio in the creation of My Famous Daiq’s and Dogs inside the World Famous Daiquiris To Go, the business has expanded into catering to local events.

“The process started out bumpy for us, when searching for the perfect location, our business model was declined by one city and two commercial properties before we settled here in Webster,” Miyosha said to VoyageHouston about some of the challenges she and her husband faced when starting the business.

“We are so glad God led us to Webster, TX. The economics department, Katy Hicks and the entire crew made our process smooth going forward.”

Aside from expanding her business, Miyosha had an eye for capacity building. She went back to school after establishing her business to learn more about what it takes to run a business and also to master the art of building and leading a team.

She eventually graduated with a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, a testament to her dedication to personal and professional growth.

“Pouring into my business means investing in people,” she said, according to Black Business. “I am firm about building a great team, and my education in Human Resource Management equips me to create an environment where everyone can thrive.”
