Naomi Campbell dons a full hazmat suit to the airport amid coronavirus

Naomi Campbell is a known germophobic and a YouTube video of her detailed and thorough airplane routine went viral last year. With the recent coronavirus pandemic, the supermodel has taken her routine up a notch leaving nothing to chance.

She is a frequent flier and her intense routine includes cleaning virtually everything down once it’s close to her seat on the plane with Dettol anti-bacterial wipes.

One might say she has every right to because even public health officials all over the world are racing to contain the coronavirus outbreak that emerged in China last December and is now spreading into other countries.

Coronavirus, officially known as COVID_19, has killed more than 3,000 people and affected over 90,000, mainly in China.

People are currently being advised to protect against the spread of the virus with actions such as washing their hands and covering their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.

That is exactly what the 49-year-old model is doing and more. She recently shared photos of herself boarding a flight from LA International Airport on Tuesday wearing a hazmat suit, a pair of goggles, a face mask and pink latex gloves.

Naomi may be doing the most, but like she captioned her Instagram post, “Safety First, NEXT LEVEL.” She has pledged to upload a “full video” on her YouTube channel. It is safe to say the sassy model has a way of turning a hazmat suit moment into a fashion statement.

Last year, she shared her germ avoiding techniques in a five-minute video on her channel.

“Clean anything that you could possibly touch,” she advised, before wiping her seat, seat belt, tray table, TV screen, remote control and window with anti-bacterial wipes.

“This is what I do on every plane I get on. I do not care what people think of me. It’s my health and it makes me feel better.”

After putting on a sanitary face mask before take-off, Campbell went on to stress the rigorous routine has helped her to stay healthy during her lengthy modeling career, which has spanned three decades, CNN reports.

“I mean as much as I travel, I should get sick so much more with colds and stuff,” she said.

I’m blessed that I don’t. I really think that this helps me, my little routine.”

According to infectious disease experts, frequent hand washing is one of the best defenses against the spread of such viruses. However, travelers are advised to wash and sanitize their hands after encountering surfaces in airports and planes.
