“No remorse” – Bill Cosby opens up in first interview behind bars

American comedian Bill Cosby has said he will not express any remorse when the time is up for his parole hearing.

Cosby, who was incarcerated for sexual offenses in September last year, has also described his time in prison as one of the best times of his life.

The interview was granted exclusively behind the walls of the SCI-Phoenix, a maximum-security Pennsylvania penitentiary near Philadelphia, where he is serving three to 10 years for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his home in 2004.

“I have eight years and nine months left,” Cosby said, according to an article by National Newspaper Publishers Association’s BlackPressUSA.com.

“When I come up for parole, they’re not going to hear me say that I have remorse. I was there. I don’t care what group of people come along and talk about this when they weren’t there. They don’t know.”

The award-winning TV producer and director, who has openly criticized his incarceration, filed an appeal in June stating his conviction was flawed because the testimony of the five accusers was “strikingly dissimilar” to that of Constand.

In the exclusive interview, Cosby described his cell room as a “penthouse”.

The actor is reportedly using his influence to educate inmates through the prison reform program, Mann Up Association.

“I go into my penthouse and I lay down and I start to think, now how can I repeat the message, and say it and give it to them on Saturday … so that they will hear and feel things,” he said.

Inmates who spoke to NNPA Newswire said they were saddened to see an icon like Cosby imprisoned, each said they believe he’s serving a higher purpose. Cosby agreed.

Cosby intends to serve his full sentence unless he is successful in his appeal, insisting he is not guilty.

Since February 2004, when the first accusation of sexual assault from Constand hit the public, the troubles of Bill Cosby have not ceased.

So far, over 60 women have come out to accuse the man, once admired as “America’s Dad”, of sexual assault, but that has not brought his many troubles to an end, reports ABC News.

Described by the judge who sentenced him to three to 10 years as a “sexually violent predator”, Cosby is now facing a legal bill of $2.75 million, as he marked the end of his first year in prison.
