Nigeria’s Favorite Music Twins P-Square Reconcile

For the past week, news of a possible split between Nigerian music duo P-Square rocked fans worldwide as many flocked to their social media pages begging and praying that the brothers remain together. But after a number of tweets were released, it appears that Peter Okoye, who was reported to be at war with his family, has finally reconciled with them.

On April 18th, the pop duo’s elder brother and manager Jude Engees Okoye exposed a possible family crisis with the following tweet:

According to the Vanguard, Peter‘s wife, Lola, was reportedly at the center of the fight, because the Okoye family refused to accept her. One insider reportedly said, “Peter is tired of the long years he has had to plead with his family to accept the woman he has decided to spend the rest of his life with. He wants Lola to be welcomed in the family just as Anita (Paul’s wife) has been accepted irrespective of her tribe or age. This is his condition.”

One of the major problems with Lola, is that P-Square’s mother reportedly told her family that she did not approve of her before she died, “The twins adore their mother and before she passed on, she had made it clear she was not in support of Peter and Lola’s union.” Apparently, tensions mounted even more once the news got out that Peter recently bought a house for Lola in the United States.

This issue reportedly put Paul in an awkward position of having to choose sides, with the insider adding, “The twins adore their mother and before she passed on, she had made it clear she was not in support of Peter and Lola’s union. Maybe that is why it is difficult for Paul. He does not want to be seen as being completely against the wish of their mother.”

During the alleged dispute, the twins went silent, but Bayo Adetu, P-Square’s pubic relations executive, initially rejected the rumors of the twins breaking up, saying, “I am too busy to give some wanna be blogger traffic, I don’t know where that report is coming from. Maybe they just want to get traffic to their site. It’s baseless and untrue.”

On Thursday, though, Jude wrote another tweet, confirming that all was well with P-Square:

This reconciliation was sealed with celebratory tweeter messages from Peter and Paul in the early hours of Friday morning. See Peter’s tweet below:

And Anita Isama, new wife of Paul, also joined in on the tweeting, writing:

Now we can breathe and hope that there will be more music magic from the duo.
