In a bid to curb youth unemployment rates in Africa, British-Ghanaian TV personality and media entrepreneur, Peace Hyde, has joined forces with Barclays Bank to produce an entrepreneurial edutainment web program. According to BellaNaija, the show titled, “Aim Higher Africa Ignite Edutainment Series,” is a collaboration between the Forbes Africa corespondent and the British multinational bank.
The 31-year-old Hyde revealed that the series will aim to motivate Africa’s youth to become entrepreneurs who can move beyond the early start-up stage.
“The critical ingredient is getting up and doing something, no matter what, it’s as simple as that,” she said.
“A lot of young people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer and that is what all these amazing entrepreneurs featured in the Ignite Series have proven. At such a challenging time where youth unemployment is at an all time high, we need to show our bright young minds that they have the power to do more.”
Hyde is a former teacher turned journalist who has been running her Aim Africa Higher start-up since 2013. The organization offers acceleration services to aspiring entrepreneurs through “mentorship, linkage to peers, access to investors, and financial literacy workshops.”
