She started her own business at just 15 with $600. In two years, she is a millionaire

Destiny Snow realized she wanted to be an entrepreneur at a young age. She launched her SnowGlam Collection when she was only 15 years old with a budget of $600. Since then, her online company has made $1 million in revenue.

“We offer hair, lashes, hot tools, nail products, cosmetics, jewelry, women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories, along with eBooks for current and aspiring entrepreneurs,” Snow told The Baltimore Times.

Now 17 years old, Snow describes herself as “an entrepreneur, social media influencer, marketing leader and high school student” and is now focused on growing her business and helping other young entrepreneurs become successful, according to Forbes.

When she first started her online business, Snow found little success. She was anticipating that her friends and family will rush to buy what she was selling. However, that wasn’t the case. And the lack of support discouraged her at a time.

Instead of giving up, she took a break to strategize. This she did by watching several videos of entrepreneurs and reading business articles.

“I watched countless marketing videos, reviewed success stories, read business articles and ordered piles of business books,” she told Forbes. “As I grew as an entrepreneur, I realized that friends and family are not my target audience and I needed to start researching to figure out what steps I needed to take to find my audience.”

She also taught herself marketing in addition to her school assignments. Snow had grown up watching her mother successfully own and operate several businesses so she knew she also had the ability to be a successful entrepreneur but she needed to figure out what she was doing wrong and fix it. The young entrepreneur realized that she needed to identify her target audience and utilize social media marketing.

“My audience was built solely off of the people that I knew, friends and family. I didn’t realize that to truly scale a company, you have to win the hearts and minds of total strangers.”

When school classes went virtual due to the pandemic, it became a blessing in disguise for her as it enabled her to focus more on growing her company since she was now mostly at home throughout the day.

In recent days, Snow has channeled her energy into other teen entrepreneurs reaching their goals. Her goal is to help others avoid such mistakes that she made in the beginning. 

“Believe in yourself and don’t always wait for opportunities to come to you. Create them,” she advised.
