‘Shut Up and Dribble’: LeBron James turns insult into business

A comment made by Fox News host Laura Ingraham about LeBron James in February prompted him to turn a positive into a negative.

James and long-time partner Maverick Carter have teamed up to executive produce a three-part documentary dubbed ‘shut up and dribble,’ as announced on Monday.

When James stated, “I feel like our team, as a country, is not run by a great coach,” “President Trump doesn’t “give a f— about the people”, it prompted a huge response. One notable one was Ingraham when she said, “must they run their mouths like that? Unfortunately, a lot of kids — and some adults — take these ignorant comments seriously.” She went on to say “and it’s always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid a hundred million dollars a year to bounce a ball.”

The docu-series will air in October; the same month James is due to hit the basketball courts with his new team the Los Angeles Lakers.

Gotham Chopra, the film’s director stated, “It’s really an exploration of how basketball is truly America’s game and the NBA has been a vessel for black athletes to claim pieces of the American dream.”

The series documents the history of basketball players and now their venture into additional business opportunities such as endorsements and fashion.

James has also opened a new school for underprivileged children and will also be producing a series on Madame C.J. Walker.
