Simone Biles writes name in history books as two more moves she finessed are named after her

With a floor exercise, as well as, a vault move named after her, reigning world and Olympic champion Simone Biles has further immortalized her name with two extra moves.

Competing at the world championships in Stuttgart, Germany on Saturday, the gymnast and Team USA member effortlessly finessed two extremely difficult and never-before-done moves on the balance beam, as well as, during her floor routine.

In a tweet, the Olympic Channel confirmed she successfully landed a double-double dismount on the balance beam and a triple-double during her floor routine. The former will officially be named “The Biles” and the latter “The Biles II.”

The triple-double involves a double backflip with three twists,” CNN reports. The double-double dismount of the beam routine, on the other hand, involves a double backflip with two twists.

“I feel like I’m pretty pleased because that’s how I train beam,” the 22-year-old told the Olympic Channel. “And it finally felt good to go out there and hit a beam routine like I train because every time I go up to compete beam, I just bomb it, so it felt really good to nail it.”

According to CNN, a gymnast is qualified to have a move named after them if they successfully complete it at the world championships or the Olympics. The new names to Biles’ history-making moves also need to be officially approved by the Federation of International Gymnastics.

Currently with 20 medals with 14 of those being gold, Biles can potentially overtake Vitaly Scherbo as the most decorated gymnast in world championships history if things go well in Stuttgart. Scherbo, who is retired, won 23 medals during his highly successful career.

Biles’ impressive run contributed to Team USA coming up tops in the qualifying round with a total of 174.205 points. She was also first on the individual standings on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor, racking up a total of 59.432 points, The Guardian reports.

“Overall, I don’t know. I still feel like I could do better,” Biles told the Olympic Channel. “But my goal going into tonight was not to do great, it was just to do well. I feel like I accomplished that and made it into finals,” she added.

Regarded as one of the greatest gymnasts of all time, Biles holds the bragging rights as the most decorated American gymnast.

She clinched a record-tying sixth title at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in August, landing two history-making flips along the way.
