Snoop Dogg is indeed giving up smoke – just not in the way you thought

If you were probably swayed by news reports that legendary rapper Snoop Dogg had quit smoking, then there is a need to revise your notes. The rapper has revealed that contrary to reports he had severed ties with the habit of smoking, the earlier impression created was because of a partnership he entered into with a smokeless fire pit.

Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., in a recent Instagram ad, said he is “giving up smoking,” acknowledging that it has been a significant part of his image.

“I know what you’re thinking: Snoop! Smoke is kind of your whole thing! But I’m done with it,” he said in the ad. “Done with the coughing and my clothes smelling all sticky icky. I’m going smokeless.

“Solo Stove fixed fire. They take out the smoke. Clever.”

He received tons of praise for the video promoting Solo Stove after he endorsed its smoke-free feature. The post garnered almost 2 million likes and numerous comments applauding the singer’s marketing skills. Some fans reacted with a mix of delight and amusement at the singer’s marketing stunt, involving a fake announcement of quitting smoking weed.

“Damn so I quit for no reason,” one fan said.

Many fans also couldn’t hide their disappointment and frustration after the rapper used his iconic association with cannabis to promote a stove, with one user criticizing the move as betraying the cannabis culture.

Another user attempted to reason that Snoop Dogg may not have explicitly claimed to quit smoking weed, suggesting that the ad deal might have come after the initial announcement.

In a follow-up ad, Snoop Dogg’s fans encouraged those inspired to quit smoking by his initial announcement to continue their journey.

The second ad surfaced shortly after the rapper declared on Instagram that he was giving up smoking, citing consideration and discussions with his family.

The artist requested privacy after he announced the decision to give up smoking, sparking speculation that the move is motivated by a desire to spend more time with his family, including his wife Shante Broadus, and their four children.

The artist has been married to Shante since 1997, and together they have three children, while Snoop Dogg has an additional son from a previous relationship with Laurie Holmond.

The artist known for “Riders on the Storm,” has nine grandchildren through his children. In a previous interview with the Daily Mail, he shared that being a grandfather has had a profound impact on him. He expressed heightened concern for his lifestyle choices, emphasizing the importance of taking precautionary steps to ensure he can witness his grandchildren grow old.
