Bamenda, Cameroon (Face2Face Africa) The leading opposition party in the West and Central African country of the Republic of Cameroon, the Social Democratic Front (SDF), has resolved to dispatch a parliamentary delegation to neighboring Nigeria to carry out investigations on the dangerous Islamic sect Boko Haram, reports the Post Newspaper.

The opposition SDF that has 10 senators out of 100 in Cameroon’s upper house of assembly and 18 out of 180 parliamentarians in the lower house, arrived at the decision at the close of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Bamenda that was chaired by the party leader, Ni John Fru Ndi (pictured).
According to Fru Ndi, the current wave of havoc being caused by Boko Haram in the north of Cameroon is a major focus of the party, so they will employ all means necessary to investigate the insurgents because it appears that the Boko Haram of Nigeria is different from the group operating in the north of Cameroon.
According to the SDF National Executive, the incumbent government of President Paul Biya is not doing enough to fight the terrorist group, “Why is government sending conflicting information on this issue? How come Cameroon ministers go negotiating with people they claim are faceless and for what fee?’’ Chairman Fru Ndi wondered.
Some months ago, the media in Cameroon reported that the incumbent government had paid a huge, undisclosed sum of money to suspected Boko Haram militants for the release of a French family kidnapped in the North of the country by the Islamic group – an issue which the government is yet to respond to.
It is from this premise that Ni Fru Ndi is making his assertion that the government is negotiating with terrorists.
Speaking to the press, the SDF Communication Officer Beatrice Anembom Munjo said the Boko Haram issue, which touches on the security of the country, has forced the party to program a parliamentary group to travel to Nigeria soon in order to carry out a thorough investigation on Boko Haram.
