This is not your average pudding and it is a South African classic dessert. It is very moist and has a great texture that comprises caramel. The moisture is achieved by adding lots of butter and syrup to the mixture. It is mostly infused with apricot jam.
It is said to have originated from the Afrikaans work malvalekker, or marshmallow and it is best served with a scoop of ice cream or homemade custard.
