T.B. Joshua: Twitter mourns death of popular Nigerian televangelist

Temitope Balogun Joshua, a popular Nigerian preacher, televangelist, and founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) has died at the age of 57. Joshua died Saturday, June 5, six days to his birthday, the church confirmed in a statement on Sunday.

“On Saturday 5th June 2021, Prophet TB Joshua spoke during the Emmanuel TV Partners Meeting: “Time for everything – time to come here for prayer and time to return home after the service,” SCOAN said in the statement.

“God has taken His servant Prophet TB Joshua home – as it should be by divine will. His last moments on earth were spent in the service of God. This is what he was born for, lived for and died for.”

“As Prophet TB Joshua says, ‘The greatest way to use life is to spend it on something that will outlive it’,” the statement added.

Joshua’s church runs the Emmanuel television station in Lagos, Nigeria. The preacher is known for his popular church services televised from his headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria. The controversial televangelist is also famous for his predictions of events, be it in politics or the economy.

“The Synagogue, Church of All Nations and Emmanuel TV Family appreciate your love, prayers and concern at this time and request a time of privacy for the family,” his church said Sunday. SCOAN did not disclose the cause of his death.

Joshua’s death has since shocked many, especially his followers. People have taken to social media to extend their message of condolences.

“Prophet TB Joshua was indeed a man after God’s heart. He fed the widows & Orphans. He trained people’s children in school. He helped people acquire skills. He gave money to help people start their dream business. He gave thousands Jobs. He never supported any evil Govt. Rest in Peace,” a Twitter user wrote.

“Sadden.. Rest in peace TB Joshua. you touched many lives and will greatly be missed,” another wrote.

“In 2012, my coach jokingly told TB JOSHUA he doesn’t have a car, he travelled that night to Dubai , I was to join the team few days later because of my passport issues, the man of GOD gave me 3k dollars to deliver …. keep RIP,” a user added.

TB Joshua is a big loss to Nigeria and the Ikotun end of Lagos especially. His church is one of the major points of tourist attractions to Nigeria and I can’t begin to imagine the impact of his death on businesses, people and the less privileged in that area. May he Rest in Peace.

TB Joshua is the Pastor who convinced me that not all Pentecostal pastors are after private jet. This man touched lives with his action and not mere words I remember when he single handedly foot the arrears NEPA bill of his senatorial constituency. Akoko & the Ondo will miss u.
